Do Plants Have Memory?

Assuming that the experiments of researchers in Italy and Australia are correct (see News), we may need to assume that memory is an unexpected reality at least for certain plants, which force us to analyze the importance of memory to consciousness. Can we be conscious without remembering? Perhaps their memory allowed them to train or domesticate insects and animals to help pollination or "sex by proxy", thus by-passing the troubles humans and animals go through in order to replicate themselves. It looks like that plants just "think" in different ways and, consequently, we may need to assume the possibility of different realities for different organisms. It is a fact, for example, that trees can feel cold weather approaching and then prepare themselves to hibernate during the hard times. Then, can old trees recollect old facts they were silent observers or unwilling participants?
